Last weekend Tony and I went to Alghero which was our first time on the Italian island. We decided to fly there instead of Cagliari, the capital of the island, just to try something new. Our plan was to rent a car and do some road trips to other places on the Sardinian island.
I did some research about Alghero (unknown to me) and I wasn’t impressed about what I saw on pictures at first. My thought was: ‘Boring city’! My impressions made me doubt about our decision, especially because I have never heard of anyone going there before. I was mostly looking forward to get the car for our road trip. Unfortunately, we had some troubles and didn’t have the car on our first day. It means that we couldn’t drive elsewhere but to stay in Alghero.
To make the most out of our situation, we went out for dinner and explored Alghero at the late afternoon. Alghero turned out to be an uncommercial and very cute little city. I’m impressed of it’s architecture which has a cozy flair because of the preservation of ancient buildings. This city has a small shopping mile, plenty of restaurant along the coast and beautiful Italian-style alleys to take a walk. Finally, I was glad about our decision to have explored something new and uncommercial. Sometimes you just have to be open for something new, right? Lynn
