I just read an article the other day where the opinion was that Paris now seems more like a theme park rather than it is a city. The city of lights has seen a fantastic tourist boom in the recent years resulting in the city receiving more than 50 million tourist per year! This is also clearly reflected on social media platforms like Instagram where hashtags related to Paris has increased significantly. The boom in tourism is understandable though because I have visited this city several times and will continue to do so simply due to its beauty!
Looking for accommodation, however, can be difficult – not because of a lack of hotels but rather in which part of the city to be and the type of accommodation. Hotels come in various price categories from luxurious Plaza Athénée, and Ritz in the popular areas to cheap hostels in the more questionable parts of the city. For me, it´s all about finding the right balance between luxury, value, and price. One of the hotels that I find to fit into this category is Maison Breguet. Located in the east of Paris, close to to the Marais district and its trendy restaurants, art galleries, and clothing shops, Maison Breguet is a 5-star boutigue hotel with 53 large rooms. The hotel also boasts a spa area with a pool and sauna as well as a great restaurant for its guests to enjoy after a day of exploring Paris.
Our room was well decorated with an artistic touch to it – I mean, just look at the green chair! The bed was extremely comfortable and the room itself very clean. There is enough to do and see around the area but if you would like to go to the inner city, a metro station is a 5 min walk from there. We went for the “green” type of transportation, namely our feet, and walked to the city which took us around 30 min. The breakfast was really well crafted with healthy items such as avocado toasts to more deliciously carbs filled dishes like pancakes.
Unfortunately, we didn´t make it to try the spa area as we only stayed there for one night before moving to another hotel close to Arc De Triomphe. However, we will definitely come back again and make use of the pool! Price wise, I believe that the hotel provides great value for the money. As I mentioned earlier, it´s all about finding that balance between value and price and you can get a room at Maison Breguet from around €200 per night. Yes, €200 a night is not very cheap but this is Paris that we are talking about. I can´t tell you how long I spent searching for hotels as well as Airbnb and I was surprised how little “hotel value” you can get for €100! I found that you have to go up to at least around €130 to get something decent that doesn´t look like a €15 hostel room in Prague 😀 So yea, when it comes to value, Maison Breguet just topped my list of hotels in Paris.
